Organization Background
The Maa Pastoralists Transformative Organization (MAPATO) is a local NGO registered in March 2023 with its registration No. 00NGO/R/4458.
Its major thematic areas include Environmental management and building community’s resilience in climate related issues, economic emancipation, education, and cultural transformation and restoration.
MAPATO aims to work with men and women, youths, people with disabilities to bring about an inclusive and equitable society that embraces humanity (Osotwa) principles.
The organization works closely with both men and women traditional leaders to facilitate their mind set transformation that will create opportunities for youth and people with disabilities to exercise their full economic and political potentials.
Mapato is a member-based organization with its both voluntary and honorary adult members of the community provided that they aim to fulfill the vision, mission, and objectives of the organization. The organization’s leadership is at three levels: namely General assembly, board of directors and its management.
Mapato is guided by the common ethical values such as:

To enhance pastoralists cultural transformation and restoration as a vehicle to acquire their full potentials, heritage, and happiness.
To improve and sustain the Pastoralists ways of environmental management for their current and future livelihoods.
To promote and enhance the quality of education for the Pastoralists in the periphery settings.
