Working for economic emancipation
and healthy environment

Mapato

Mapato is a member-based organization with its both voluntary and honorary adult members of the community provided that they aim to fulfill the vision, mission, and objectives of the organization. The organization’s leadership is at three levels: namely General assembly, board of directors and its management.
Our Key Priorities
The Pastoral livelihood system is at thresholds due to its nature of economy. They are remotely living far away from cities where all social services are accessible. In this regard, they suffer from inaccessibility of social services, cultural disparities, gender inequalities, land insecurity, inadequate knowledge on mother earth management, and inaccessibility to financial services as they lack proper assets for collateral purposes and lack of employability skills.
Organization Vision
Mapato envision a justice society to all its members and to its surrounding environment.
Organization Mission
To improve pastoralists’ economic emancipation, environmental management, and cultural transformation and restoration.

Specific Objectives of the organization

  • To diversify the modes of livelihoods of pastoralists in order to attain their full economic emancipation by all members of the community.

  • To enhance pastoralists cultural transformation and restoration as a vehicle to acquire their full potentials, heritage, and happiness.

  • To improve and sustain the Pastoralists ways of environmental management for their current and future livelihoods.

  • To promote and enhance the quality of education for the Pastoralists in the periphery settings.
